DRIVER HOURS OF SERVICE REGULATIONS
Pacific Western is proud of our leadership role in the area of safety. From being the first in the industry to have our entire bus fleet outfitted with seat belts, to developing unique safety programs and maintaining a higher safety standard amongst our work group, we are confident that our strong commitment to safety will help us continue to lead.
No matter the size of the group or length of trip, passenger safety is our primary focus. Governing bodies in both Canada and the United States have prescribed a specific set of regulations for operators of passenger vehicles. The purpose of these rules are to ensure the safety of all motor coach bus passengers and operators, by defining the allowable length of time a motor coach driver can be operating a vehicle (motor coach bus, mini coach bus, school bus) transporting passengers. The regulations set by Transport Canada and the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) are based on a scientific review and are designed to make certain that drivers get the necessary rest to perform safe operations.
