2010 G8 and G20 Summit Bus Transportation
Pacific Western manages ground transportation for G8 and G20 summits
Toronto, June, 2010 - Public Works and Government Services Canada and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade selected Pacific Western Transportation to manage the transportation requirements for the 2010 G8 summit in Huntsville, Ontario and the 2010 G20 summit in Toronto, Ontario. Pacific Western Transportation delivered ground transportation services for all dignitaries and staff participating in the 2010 G8 and G20 summits.
The contract for the overall transportation requirement is considered the largest of its kind. Pacific Western Transportation appropriated approximately one hundred vehicles to fulfil the ground transportation needs of both summits. Included in the effort, support staff managed and coordinated all of the transportation elements involved in Muskoka and Toronto.
Security obligations for the G8 and G20 summits stipulated compulsory security clearance for all staff and vehicles. Operational requirements included on-site airport operations, on-site dispatch staff, comprehensive route planning and contingency planning on a 24 hour basis. Throughout a three week period Pacific Western Transportation effectively moved with discretion, some of the World's most powerful nations throughout the controlled access zone.
